Oh, Hello Boston is an independent online radio station founded by Sooz in 2020. Originally rooted in the Boston rock scene, the station has evolved into a freeform celebration of New England music in all its forms: from the 1970s to the latest releases.
The name comes from one of Sooz’s favorite phrases: “Oh, hello!” And yes, “Boston” is in the name. Mostly because “Oh, Hello, New England” didn’t quite land. But the station will always be regional at heart, with music from across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine.
Oh, Hello Boston was created at a time when live music had suddenly gone quiet during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The station became a way to stay connected. And from the beginning, it has streamed only music by artists and bands from New England, 24 hours a day. The station was built on a simple premise: there are so many incredible musicians in this region, it’s possible to create an entire station dedicated to their work.
The shows
We’re rebuilding our lineup, one show at a time. Old favorites are returning and new ideas are in the works. All rooted in our commitment to New England music. Stay tuned as more shows join the mix.
Decade stroll
Our flagship show takes listeners on a time-traveling musical tour. Each six-song block features one track from each decade, from the 1970s through today, featuring songs that shaped the sound of New England and some that are shaping what comes next.
Interview series
We’re bringing back our interview series: informal, real conversations with New England artists, band members, and behind-the-scenes folks who help shape the scene. Each interview includes a station takeover, a guest-curated set of songs featuring their favorite music made in New England. These stories and playlists go beyond the music and into the heart of what makes regional music communities tick.
A station that sounds like New England
We want Oh, Hello Boston to feel like the soundtrack of your favorite venue, your old record store, your new favorite band’s live set.
And it’s not just about what you already know and love. It’s also about the joy of finding something unexpected. A fresh release, a forgotten track, a new-to-you favorite. We’re here for all of it.
Thousands of songs are released every day. We don’t chase every trend or drop a track just because it’s no longer “new.” We stay with the gems. The ones that are truly timeless. If it deserves to be heard, we keep it in rotation.
While the station currently leans into rock, Americana, and reggae, our aim is to reflect the full diversity of New England’s music scene, past and present.
Help us shape the soundtrack of New England
Musicians across all genres are encouraged to share music. To submit music for airplay consideration, we accept Bandcamp download codes or .wav files. Send us your songs, tell us what you’re working on, and join us in building something that truly reflects the region.

Know a band we should hear?
You don’t have to be in a band to help shape Oh, Hello Boston’s soundtrack. If there’s a New England artist or album you love, new or old, we want to know about it. Especially music beyond Boston in Western Mass, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Meet our sister station: Boston Comedy Radio
Curated by longtime journalist Nick Zaino, Boston Comedy Radio streams more than 100 years of stand-up, sketch, and musical comedy from across New England. It’s the comedic counterpart to Oh, Hello Boston, and a reminder that this region doesn’t just make great music, it’s always been funny, too.
Thanks to our early collaborators
Special thanks to Michelle DiPoala and Phil Fleming, who were instrumental in building the original library during the station’s first year.
